(A) Distribution of CD11b⁺, IL-1β⁺ and TNF-α⁺ cells in infarct (IF) and peri-infarct (P-IF) regions. IL-1β⁺ (B) and TNF-α⁺ (C) cells were particularly numerous at the edge of the infarct, and these cytokines were exclusively expressed by CD11b⁺ cells (arrows). CD11b⁺ cells were visualized using Alexa Fluor^® 488-conjugated goat anti-rat IgG, IL-1β⁺ and TNF-α⁺ cells using Alexa Fluor^® 594-conjugated donkey anti-rabbit IgG.
