(A) Distribution of CD11b+, IL-1β+ and TNF-α+ cells in infarct (IF) and peri-infarct (P-IF) regions. IL-1β+ (B) and TNF-α+ (C) cells were particularly numerous at the edge of the infarct, and these cytokines were exclusively expressed by CD11b+ cells (arrows). CD11b+ cells were visualized using Alexa Fluor® 488-conjugated goat anti-rat IgG, IL-1β+ and TNF-α+ cells using Alexa Fluor® 594-conjugated donkey anti-rabbit IgG.
