Comparison of inflammatory cell infiltrates between Cx43 icKO and Cx43fl/fl mice during acute EAE. Lumbar spinal cord samples from mice of each genotype in the acute phase (dpi 17) of EAE were immunostained by the indicated antibody (a, c, e, g) and immunostained cell densities were quantified (b, d, f, h). Significantly fewer CD45+ (a, b), F4/80+ (e, f), and Iba1+ (g, h) cells infiltrated into the lumbar spinal cords of Cx43 icKO mice than Cx43fl/fl mice whereas CD3+ T cell infiltration tended to be deceased in Cx43 icKO mice compared with Cx43fl/fl mice (c, d).
