Administration of cortistatin reduces exacerbated murine brain endothelial barrier breakdown. a Left, wild-type and cortistatin-deficient mice (1 year) were injected intraperitoneally with LPS (6 mg/kg) for 6 h. Evans-Blue (2% in PBS) was injected through the tail vein 1 h before sacrifice. Cortistatin (1 nmol, in PBS) was intraperitoneally administered immediately after LPS. Control mice were injected with PBS as vehicle. Right, representative images show EB brain extravasation. b Brains were collected and minced in N,N-dimethylformamide at 55 ºC for 24 h. Supernatants were collected and EB content (ng/mg brain) was measured on a spectrophotometer at 620 nm.
