35DPTA7 and 35DPTSA12 inhibit cystine uptake in microglia. Rat primary microglia were activated with 100 ng/ml LPS alone for 15 h, then the indicated concentrations of test substances were applied during application of selenocystine. After 30 min, uptake was stopped and assayed fluorometrically. Values are mean ± SEM of quadruplicate cultures. ****P < 0.0001 for all concentrations of 35DBTA7 vs. LPS alone; **P = 0.012 for 0.03 μM vs. 300 μM 35DBTA7, ***P = 0.0009 for 0.03 μM vs. 300 μM 35DBTSA12 (ANOVA and Bonferroni post hoc)
